Some fundraisers need explaining. This one does not. Maketū Pies have been made in the Bay of Plenty since 1982, and most families in the country have eaten one. You are asking supporters to buy something they already know and already like.
Six packs sell for $33 and your group keeps $8 from every carton sold. Sell 200 cartons and that is $1,600 for the school.
What You Are Selling
The range covers the classics and then some. Mince & Cheese and Steak & Cheese do the heavy lifting, with Butter Chicken, the smoked fish favourites, vegetarian options and hearty rolls filling out the order form. Between them there is something for nearly every household, including the ones who usually skip a food fundraiser.
Everything is individually wrapped and frozen, so it goes straight from the box into a family's freezer.
Why It Works for Schools
- The brand does the selling. Supporters recognise the packaging. That removes the hesitation you get with a product nobody has heard of.
- It replaces a meal. A six pack is dinner or lunches for the week, so supporters are spending money already in the budget rather than treating it as a donation.
- Fixed pack combinations. Orders come in set packs, which means less sorting on distribution day and far fewer mistakes when you hand them out.
- Nationwide delivery. Families and supporters anywhere in the country can order, so your campaign is not limited to people who can reach a pickup point.
How It Works
Set your campaign up on Raised and share the link with your school community. Supporters order and pay online, so there is no cash tin, no paper order forms, and no chasing money at the school gate. When the campaign closes you get one clear list of who ordered what.
Planning Distribution Day
Frozen product means a plan. Work out before the campaign opens where the pies will be held when they arrive, who is on hand to sort them, and what window families have to collect.
A two hour collection window straight after school works well. Ask families to bring a bag, remind them the pies need to go into a freezer that day, and have a small backup freezer arranged for the handful of orders that always go uncollected.
Who It Suits
Schools, sports clubs and community groups anywhere in New Zealand. It works particularly well for larger campaigns where you want a product that sells itself, and for groups in the Bay of Plenty where the local connection is worth mentioning in your promotion.
